okies since this is DeviantArt let's talk about the artistic development of every individual...okies this is for those who are really interested in art and not to those who's being forced to art...let's say 4 yr old kid vs 35 yr old man....the development of the 4 year old is faster than the 35 year old man...it's like learning new languages at that said ages..when you are young you dont have so much distractions as when it comes to things you want to learn..when we were young it's fun and joyous learning new things...

i know some of you are not convinced...there's this young guy during his younger years his parents usually take him to museum or to exhibits for live drawings..he learned...the guy knows how to draw..but when he grew older he's competing and winning international awards for advertising...developing art at young age can help the young ones develop their character, problem solving and confidence..i dunno if it's happening to me lol...my point is exposing the a person at art museum, exhibits or even to comicon will trigger their artistic side/interests...

there are 5 year old kids who can do a 10 year old level of illustrating...advance for his age and there's a 10 year old kid can do a 5 year old level of illustrating...is he left behind or not really an artist??no..if he's enjoying and loves what's he's doing in his art class/school he's not left behind it's just that he is kinda arrived late for his journey in the field of art..and of course it will depend on his parents if they are supportive or not..

me as one of those who never been trained properly lol it's like if i will teach art i dont know where to start lol whether if i should start at line drawings...i really dunno...it's like im really amazed at art pieces that i wanted to make my own..it's like im staring for several hours at that piece studying and theorizing how the artist made it and later on i will try those theories on paper..either with pencils, coloring tools or clays..

COMMISSIONS STILL OPEN!!!!!!!!lol

oh yeah i need to have some commissions since im getting short this moment lol so much festivities in the past...and i owe someone here for overdue shipment lol...i hope some kind hearted will help me or should i say order some commissions...ok i said small size so price will also go smaller...make sense huh??:lolly: okies the size is 4x6 inch for the price of $17..i could only accept payment thru western union money transfer and through xoom...

WITHIN EVERY PERSON THEE IS A CAPACITY TO DO OR BE SOMETHING ESPECIAL....EACH PERSON HAS A MISSION IN LIFE, AND THE DESIRE AND TALENT TO GET THERE IS WITHIN EACH OF US. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF FINDING OUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOUR SPECIAL GIFTS ARE....

i just wanna say this...portraiture is not just about the likeness but by capturing the emotions, expressions, moods, aura and the personality of the subject so it's better  to master them first before you focus on the details.

TIPS!TIPS!TIPS!

tips on shading and blending(FAQs)

ok let me start in general rules....

-dont hurry on making a portrait you're creating a masterpiece not a mess!!!
-for shading starting with the darkest is much better..
-the number one rule dont leave any lines unblended, blend it with the shadings(but dont over blend esp. on the folds on the eyelids, the nostrils and the lines on the upper and lower lips and lemme include the limbal ring of the eyes, the hair, lashes, eyebrows, facial stubbles, mustache, beard and te lines for sections of the hair.

let me share you how to make my blending tool w/c i use for smaller details like wrinkles, fine lines, wrinkly lips, details of the iris..
- tear a piece of tissue(make it a long rectangular shaped)then roll it into a knitting needle, make sure that the tip is also covered to avoid scratches on your paper.rub it to the paper diagonally..ok?:D

and of course my sharpened eraser:D
- if you want to have like mine.buy a stick shaped eraser..i know a brand w/c sells it MAPED,choose the one w/c shapes like a blade for the cutter.then cut a piece of that, diagonally so you will have a flat-shaped end.

you can achieve lots of realism by using this like the shiny.moist parts of the eyes, lips, hair, and skin, jewelries, blades etc.

ok here i go even this may sounds a bit redundant:

WRINKLY LIPS: after lining the shape of the lips again start with the darkest shades to lightest. put the details(lines for the wrinkles)then blend it.always try to be careful doin the contrast..then for the lightest/lush/gloss just use the sharpened eraser.then blend the lip line with the shading.

HAIR: let me explain it by using numbers(this is applicable for both straight and curly hair as well as to their shadings whether its dark or light shades.

1)the shape of the entire hair or the canopy
2)line the sections
3)shadings: darkest to lightest
4)the shine(sharpened eraser)
5)line the sections again then blend
6)visible shiny strands; sharpened eraser

SKIN

when it comes to shadings hold your pencil diagonally.for me using tissue for blending(esp. on the cheeks, forehead, neck, arms. chest)can give your subject's skin lush.if there are some spots that cause by the pencil w/c in turn make the skin a bit ugly ( i always have a problem with this one esp. if there's a poor lightings on the reference pics)  just use the sharpened eraser(the pointed one) then work on them again until it blends on its "respective contrasts" :D

and this one came from a comment...you should know or somehow discover how to make your subjects looks alive, there are some parts that you need to tone down..to enhance the realism. honestly speaking...i still have'nt learn so much about that
what else.....?!

about the limbal ring of the eyes it is not a whole circle it's a bit scaley(for close up shots.
and dont make the facial skin too smooth it will look like a plastic. you can also use sharpened eraser for the pores(just shape it like a steep triangle so you will have a pointed tip)just dub it as if your putting dots...

SHADOWS:

be very careful on putting shadows if the reference pics have a poor lightings.remember it's a shadows not a black hole!!!!the texture underneath must able to be glimpsed.and there must be a fade out don't put visible lines on the edges of the shadows make it more of a shading.

for other questions just send me a note ok:D

CIAO!!!

i forgot to say that RETOUCHING is very important!!!!!!:giggle:

hey guys i just discovered some thing.you should try this esp. for those who want to put details on their work. in a piece of paper(maybe 2") create a window inside of that, when you're done...put it at the top of your reference photo then just like you will take a picture using a camera focused it on the part where you want to capture all the details.go ahead try it promise there's a lot difference....

well, everyone learns different.
I like to say: at the end, it is the artwork what counts, not how long you need to do it or with which medium...
